German trade fair industry turns March into #MesseMonthMarch
In March 2025, the month with the highest number of trade fairs, the German trade fair industry was very creative to draw attention to the colorful trade fair business throughout Germany. AUMA's Communications and Marketing team coordinated the latest industry campaign. After the industry campaigns in 2022, 2023 and 2024 it shows that cross-industry communication is constantly improving.

Steffen Schulze's fascination with the variety and concentration of German trade fairs in March became the impetus for a Germany-wide social media campaign - a digital ramble through the vibrant world of trade fairs.

The German trade fair industry has again declared an industry month, this time March, to draw attention to the diverse trade fair business. In March 2025 53 of the year's total 310 German trade fairs took place. During these particularly intense 31 days, the industry presented itself in many facets, offering some unusual insights and outlooks. AUMA coordinated the industry campaign and presented creative and innovative activity each day. The last time the trade fair industry in Germany staged an industry month of this kind was in May 2022 to celebrate the restart of business after two and a half years of trade fair bans due to the coronavirus pandemic in Germany. In 2023, the industry took a joint stance on sustainability and in 2024, celebrated 75 years of the German Constitution.
Philip Harting, AUMA Chairman, emphasised the need to explain the trade fair business in Germany again, to illustrate its fascination, power and uniqueness:
"In addition to billions in added value, hundreds of thousands of jobs and significant tax revenues, much more depends on the German trade fair industry: trade fairs are hubs of personal exchange, meeting places for the problem solvers of our time and showcases for innovations that let us make progress."
"With #MesseMonthMarch, we show what our industry is able to do, what we do, what sets us apart, who we are, what we stand for, what we work on, who works here and how you can work here."
"The month of March stands for new beginnings. The international day against Racism in March stands for cosmopolitanism and the negotiations for a new federal government, having begun in March, stand for a strong impetus toward our economy."
All 53 trade fairs in #MesseMonthMarch 2025 totaled a time span of 180 days. 21 trade fairs were classified as international, six as national and 23 as regional. Three trade fairs were held for the first time. Well over 1000 actions by AUMA members and many other trade fair fans were recorded on the Social Wall. To be continued...
Steffen Schulze (born 1978) has been Head of Communications and Marketing at AUMA since 2021. The journalist previously worked in communications for Deutsche Bahn, the Federation of German Industries and three German presidents, among others.
